并用英文作此解釋:“Waiting for chances that will never repeat themselves.”另外還舉出一句意義類似的英文成語“He that waits for chance is never sure of his dinner”。
第一條是:“Cook a hare before catching him.”
第二條是:“First catch your hare (then cook him).”
第三條是:“Hares may pull dead lions by the beard.”
第四條是:“If you run after two hares, you will catch neither.”
第五條是:“Run with the hare and hunt with the hounds.” 痹~典并舉英國作家高爾斯華綏寫的句子為例:“But if you want a divorce it's not very wise to go seeing her, is it? One can't run with the hare and hunt with the hounds.”
